EMERSON ISLANDS
COLLECTION

We have chosen for this collection the theme of a fictional universe, “the Emerson Islands”. This is imaginary and utopian Islands .

They were called in reference to Ralph Waldo Emerson , american writer of the nineteenth century. He was the leader of the important transcentalism movement (Thoreau, Whitman, especially).

He was the thinker of the spiritual connection of men to their environments (Nature, 1836). The contemplation of nature and ecology, possible to all, then provides access to essential truths. It encourages men to maintain a regular dialogue with their environment.

Each object seeks to deploy in its own way this philosophy and this universe.
